First of many

Doc Handsome celebrated his first Father's Day yesterday. We started the morning off with some family snuggle time in our bed as always. Mini DH and I made Doc Handsome breakfast. An omlette, toast, and bacon. After that we made phone calls to our dads to wish them a happy day. We then got dressed and ready because Doc Handsome was off on a scavenger hunt I set up for him. He ran around our house and neighborhood looking for clues that I had stashed away; ultimately leading to his gift.
{He almost missed this one because he thought it was trash}

Mini DH was loving the outdoors as he usually does.

I hid some of the clues in empty apartment doors.

Look at Mini DH's smile. He couldn't be happier in his Daddy's arms.

This clue was hiding in our mailbox and led him to the next clue hiding in the back of our toilet. Don't worry! I put it in a plastic bag!

He finally got to the last clue which gave him a website to type in. It led him to an 18 minute long video that I had made for him outlining the entire road that led him to fatherhood; complete with music, pictures, and videos. Something I know we'll both treasure for long time. And something I hope Mini DH will also when he's older.

We then headed to a beautiful beach city about 30 minutes away. We were going to have lunch and walk around downtown. But first we went to a great little place where you paint your own pottery, ceramics, bowls, etc. Whatever you'd like and then they fire glaze them for you and pick them up a week later. We went in and made Doc Handsome a coffee mug (coffee is his lifesaver in the mornings) with Mini Dh's hand and footprints.

Of course right after we painted his hand, I let go, and he grabbed for my shirt.

While we eat lunch, we were taking pictures of Mini DH when a gal (she was about our age) asked if she could take a picture for us. Mini Dh is such a flirt with just about anyone who he's never seen before. So as you can see, the big smile on his face is from the pretty girl who he was in awe over. The girl then told us, "I just wanted to take a picture so I could see your little guy." Don't you just love random meetings with sweet strangers? They seem to make my day.

These days are what I live for. They are the memories that make the hard times easier to endure.
I hope all you Daddy's out there had a wonderful day that you deserve. Whether you're a to-be, a first timer, a veteran, a wonderful man who stepped up to be a father, or a single mom who is taking on the role of dad. You shape our children, our future, into the strong people they will grow up to be.
Happy Father's Day.
