Calling all mammas and the like

Anyone care to share their thoughts and/or opinions?

  1. It kinda seems like to me that it's pretty much saying "hey if you don't breast feed your kid is going to suck at life"
My sister tried desperately to breastfeed and just couldn't produce the milk so of course she had to use formula.
I can't say I totally agree with this because why I do think breastfeeding is great not everyone can do it. Alot of people have trouble can't contact the right people to help them and give up.

  2. not everyone can breastfeed, i could only do it for 2 months with my daughter and none with my son. breast feeding is great if you can do it but it shouldnt mean your a bad person/mother if you give them a bottle. and i think personaly its kinda gross to have a 1-3 year old child hooked on your boob, but thats just me.

  3. Oohh I love this topic! So controversial!

My baby girl is 6 months, and until recently, she was exclusively breast fed. I was not breast fed, and neither was my husband because he was adopted.
I am 100% for breastfeeding; however, I will NOT breastfeed until my child is 3 years old. I am determined to do at least a year, possibly a little longer, night time nursing only!

I hate how people are offended by breastfeeding! Its why God gave us the goods. It is the most ignorant, thing in the world to be offended by something so NATURAL! Yes, I agree our "goods" should not be out for the whole world to see, but when I sit down anywhere in public to feed my daughter- with my nursing cover to hide the goods - and people stare at me like I should be ashamed of myself, I want to punch them in the face! & I am not a violent person!

I could go on, really, but I wont :)

    Thanks for sharing the vid!

  4. This video irritated me. Do I think women should try and breastfeed their babies? Absolutely. I think it's a beautiful way to nourish your child, and after all it was the way we were meant to provide for our babies.I wish I had been able to do so for longer than two months. What offended me is the way the women and doctors in the video act like women who don't or can't breastfeed are bad moms. EACH mother is different, and EACH baby is different. Every individual has to figure out what's going to be the best for their child and that relationship. What matters is that we are trying to provide the best for our children, not how we do it.

  5. Wow! This video pissed me off!!! I agree with the other ladies who commented. Many times breastfeeding just doesn't work out and you have to switch to formula. My sister tried breastfeeding with her first daughter but she could only do so for about a month and then she wasn't producing enough milk and her daughter wasn't latching on. She switched to formula and my niece is now 6 and one of the smartest kids in her class. Just because you aren't breastfeed doesn't mean your doomed, for crying out loud!! Every persons body is different and sometimes people just can't breastfeed. That doesn't make them a bad mom and in my personal opinion I think its just sick to breastfeed for over a year. There comes a point where enough is enough, and having a three year old still being breastfed is just a disturbing thought!! :/

  6. As you know, I am very pro breastfeeding... but at the same time, I don't think women should be made to feel less of a mother, or whatever for NOT breastfeeding. Every woman has her story.
There was a time that we thought we might have to give O formula, he just wasn't gaining weight. It broke my heart, but I would do whatever I could for my son!
A friend of mind had to give her son formula after 3 wks b/c he ended up in the hospital and she got an infection and couldn't keep her supply up.
So why would we make her feel bad about giving her son formula?! It wasn't her fault!

So I guess, yes, I agree, breastfeeding is the best option. I nursed my son until 15 or 16 months. But I also don't feel that women should feel bad about themselves or their decision to give their baby formula...

  7. Know many people who were BF and are obese. While obesity is a learned behavior it is also a genetic trait that is passed in families just like depression, chemical dependency, etc.

I have an 11 yr old daughter. She was solely FF fed. She is now a whopping 78 lbs, wears a size 00 in jeans, a 9.5 shoe in women's and yet eats everything in sight. BUT I keep her active in sports and off the couch.

To me, obesity is not based off of being FF or BF, it's about allowing our children to become sedentary rather then get them up, out of the house and doing something. Especially when it's a trait that runs in the family. For me being obese is common in our family, so I have to work harder at keeping the weight off. Which is why I keep the kids active.

BF'ing opinions are based off our narrow minded, egotistical, materialistic society that cares more about the dollar, the status, and the look.

However with all that said and being a supporter of BF'ing, who am I to judge, knock, or even shame a mother for formula feeding.

Tantrums are not always to nurse, and you shouldn't use nursing as a way to manipulate a child, that is the same as using food in a bottle or out of a box.
