Schedule of a 5 month old

How I found Mini DH during his first nap.
Doesn't he look comfortable? Like he's living the life!

I just got off the phone with my mom. We were
going over Mini DH's schedule so she can figure out when would be best to take time off work when we go to visit. It got me thinking that he's on a great schedule at this point. I don't want to jinx it by saying this, but I am extremely pleased with the routine we're on so far. Here's a typical breakdown:

8am - Wake up. Doc Handsome gets Mini DH from his crib and brings him into our bed. I nurse him laying down so we can sneak in a few more minutes of shut eye. Followed by about 15 minutes of wake up cutesy noises from the baby. Then there's the morning diaper....the loaded one.

10am - Mini DH takes about a 1 hour nap after he's been up for approx. 2 hours. This has been Doc Handsome's area of expertise since I am usually at work for this nap time.

2 or 3pm - Mini Dh take a longer nap. Usually lasting from about 1 to 2 hours. His last nap for the day.

8pm - Bedtime! Starts off with a bath usually every other day, some stimulation including learning and play time. Nursing and then off to his bed.

Night times he usually wakes up 1-3 times. He's still mastering that part. I nurse every 4 to 5 hours. So 1 to 2 times a night depending on IF he even wakes up. he good thing about him waking up is that he returns right back to sleep. We go in, cover him with the blanket, tell him "it's ok, we're still here" and then leave the room. Within 10 minutes, he's out. All naps and bedtimes are in the crib. He's getting really confident at soothing himself now. Which we feel is an advantage. I can say the "cry it out" method has proven to be successful for our family. I know each parent has their own opinion and thoughts about what is best and what should be done as far as sleep training. (And everything else right...?!?!) I think what works for one family, might not work for the next. So for that reason I try to reserve passing judgement as much as possible. I would like to think that I am open to hearing all different types of parenting techniques and styles. I always do a TON of research on anything related to Mini DH. It just so happens that for sleep training this is what we settled on.

  1. What an AWESOME schedule you guys have!! And that is amazing that at 5 months he is doing so well!
Squish JUST started sleeping and I don't want to jinx it by saying it but the last 3 days have been amazing! I'm hoping tonight is good too!
I am so glad that you found something that worked for you guys! I know I stuck my foot in my mouth before, but I really do believe that every family needs to find what works for them! Another friend of mine did the "no cry sleep solution" but that definitely wouldn't work for Squish... he is too strong willed ;) CIO is what we do! We have to "remind" him of it sometimes and that is so hard but it really is worth it for him to get a good nights sleep and good NAPS!

    You guys rock!!

    HAPPY EASTER!!! xoxo

  2. Happy Easter too!! In no way did I even think twice about voicing your opinion. Like I said before, I know it came from a place of love. And for that, I am grateful that I have a friend like you who can voice their concerns to me. I really am! =]
