Because we all slip up with Opsec and Persec, I thought it was important to continue spreading the message on just how vital these two security measures can protect our troops, their families, and our country in general.
I recently read a fantastic post by The Household Diva over at http://www.household6diva.com/2010/04/blogging-operations-security-opsec.html .
I've had numerous conversations with other military wives about both of these. Like everything else, we all have our own views on what's important to hide and what's not.
But I think The Household Diva explained it best when she wrote about it being specific guidelines that not only military, but civilians try to abide by also.
Go take a look at her post. I think you'll enjoy it as much as I did.

I'm so glad you liked it! :)
ReplyDeleteAs a military spouse, I sometimes feel bombarded by OPSEC reminders - but they are really important principles to remember - ESPECIALLY with blogging, facebook, and twitter!
PS - I spent a lot of time creating blog buttons so people could just reference it on their blog to spread awareness - I'm so tickled you even blogged about it! Thank you!
I definitely already had the poster picture up... IT IS SO IMPORTANT! I now linked it to that post. Well said and thank you for sharing over here! I hadn't gotten there in her blog yet.
ReplyDeleteMy hubster's first deployment I lost a few friends over reminding them to shut their mouths... some spouses don't get it.
I grabbed one of her buttons for it a while back. I think a lot of people are CLUELESS about it all so good for you spreading the word!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was very well put. Thank you for sharing! I don't think everyone remembers about OPSEC when posting.
